British Craft Awards 2017

This email starts with a great big EEK! as I am so excited to tell you that I have won the motivational designer of the year award in the knit/crochet category of the 2017 British Craft Awards!

The award presentation was made on Sunday evening at the NEC in Birmingham after voting took place over the last few months. Unfortunately I wasn't able to accept the award in person as we were at the Unravel show in Farnham, however I am looking forward to being able to show you the award via social media when it arrives at the office within the next few days.

Andy and I are over the moon that I have won this prize, from a personal point of view and because it means that the craft of crochet has finally been recognised within the industry as a platform for ground breaking and innovative design. We are also really pleased that Attic 24 won best blog and Yarndale won best product.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who voted for me - it means so much to know that you are so supportive of my design work.

You can find a list of the other award winners on the Simply Crochet Magazine blog by following this link.

Open Studio

We will be holding an open studio event here at Janie Crow HQ this coming Saturday 25th February between 11am and 3pm.

Our open studio events give you a chance to see our showroom and Jane's studio and take a leisurely browse through our products and have a nice chat and a cup of tea or coffee surrounded by yarn, accessories, blankets and good company!

You do not need to let us know you are coming - simply turn up if and when you want to! Our office address is listed at the bottom of this email and you will find a map easily by typing Janie Crow into Google.

Knit & Crochet in India

After 4 incredibly successful residential workshops at the Green Hotel in India, Knit For Peace will be returning to Mysore for another one in January 2018. I will be tutoring the knit and crochet workshops which take place in the gardens of the former palace each week day and will be on hand throughout to make sure participants get the most out of the incredible trip.

The India trip has yet to be added to the Knit For Peace web site, but you can register your interest and find out more information by ringing the charity. Demand for places is likely to be high and many previous participants have already signed up to return so places will be limited. If you want to read my blog posts from the last trip you will find them within the archived posts on this blog. You will also find some lovely images on Sarah Hazell's Instagram feed - Sarah was the tutor on the most recent trip.

Knit For Peace are also currently offering a retreat holiday to Venice in July - you can find more information about it by linking through to their web site where you will also find their contact number and more information about this amazing charity.

We will be at the Spring Knitting and Stitching Show at Olympia from next Thursday the 2nd March through to Sunday the 5th. You can still get a reduced rate ticket price by using the code EDBM17 at check out.

We look forward to seeing you at the show or here at the studio if you can make it and wish you all the best of health and happiness!
