Sunshine and Showers CAL

Since last March the patterns for my Sunshine and Showers blanket have been featured on a monthly basis within the lovely Crochet Now magazine. The blanket project was released as a mystery crochet along (CAL) project and I designed it with a seasonal/weather related theme in mind.

A whole year has passed and so I can now reveal the complete blanket design.

It has been fabulous seeing the images of completed Sunshine and Showers blankets popping up on social media and I have had lots of keen crocheters sending me snap shots of their projects, but we know that there are lots of people still keen to do the crochet along so we have decided to relaunch the CAL ourselves…..

We will be releasing the patterns in a slightly different format to those in the magazine - the basic patterns will be available for free on this blog and there will be an option to download a digital version of the pattern for a small cost should you wish to print the pattern out at home or store it on one of your devices.

We will be posting more information - a 'Getting Started' tutorial - on this blog next week. This will include information on yarn choices, tension, basic stitches etc. The Sunshine and Showers project is a great yarn buster so you can choose to source your own yarns, but if you want to get really organised and grab yourself a yarn pack well in advance of the first set of patterns being released in May you can pre order by following this link. We have yarn kits available in Stylecraft Special DK and, for those of you who fancy a bit of luxury, we have a Yarn Stories Fine Merino DK pack available too. Below is an image of the project made using the Yarn Stories alternative pack.

We are really excited about this project and hope that many of you will choose to follow the blog and take advantage of the free patterns and the optional download versions, but you can also still get a digital subscription for the back issues of Crochet Now magazine and thus take advantage of all the extra projects and interesting articles within the magazine. You can find the relevant links and more information on our web site.

That's it for now - will be back next week with the 'Getting Started' information so don't forget to check back if you fancy getting involved!
